Dec 17, Colombo: The first US $ 1 billion investment agreement for the construction of the Colombo International Financial Center was signed at Temple Trees today (December 17) under the patronage of Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa. The agreement was signed between Browns Investments, a strategic investment arm of the LOLC Group, and China Harbor Engineering Company Limited (CHEC). Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa was accompanied by Chinese Ambassador to Sri Lanka Qi Zhenhong at the signing ceremony of the Colombo International Financial Center (CIFC) Agreement implemented as a Mixed Development Project. “Attracting foreign direct investment is a priority of our government. This unique project is a powerful example of Sri Lanka’s return to the business world,” said Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa.
