A person was found dead after an explosion at a ranch near Seligman that burned a historic hay barn and spread flames to adjacent structures and brush, according to Coconino County sheriff s officials.
Deputies responded to the report of an explosion shortly after 3 p.m. Saturday at Rose Well Camp, north of Seligman on the Boquillas Ranch, sheriff s officials posted on Facebook.
Ranch staff saw the smoke, went to the camp to investigate and found one of the camp houses engulfed in flames, the social media post stated. A ranch staff member s vehicle was parked near a porch.
Human remains were found in the burned structure while Seligman fire personnel worked to put out the flames. The fire had spread to other adjacent structures, according to the post.
Coconino County Sheriff’s investigators are looking into the discovery of human remains after an explosion and fire at a ranch near Seligman last weekend. Deputies responded to an area north of Seligman on the Boquillas Ranch at around 3 p.m. Saturday. When they arrived they saw a camp house on fire and a ranch staff member’s vehicle was parked near a porch. Officials say the remains were found in the house. The causes of death and the fire remain under investigation. The remains were taken to the Coconino County Medical Examiner’s office for identification. March 4 (UPI) The National Park Service said Thursday that Park Rangers had recovered the body of a missing Kentucky man in the Grand Canyon, bringing an end to a multi-day search and rescue operation.
Park rangers discovered the body Wednesday near a yellow motorcycle in the canyon some 465 feet below the rim of the South Kaibab Trailhead, the service said in a statement.

Officials said they believe the body is of John Pennington, 40, from Walton, Ky., who is thought to have entered the Grand Canyon on Feb. 23.

The search for a missing Kentucky man at the South Rim of the Grand Canyon has come to a tragic end. National Park Service personnel located a body and motorcycle below the South Kaibab Trailhead Wednesday, following a multi-day search and rescue operation. Park Rangers recovered the body, which was located about 465-feet below the rim. Park spokeswoman Joelle Baird says “he was found below the rim with his motorcycle.” She added, “we can’t be sure he was riding the motorcycle over the edge, but we believe, at this time, that he was on his motorcycle.” The body was taken by helicopter to the Coconino County Medical Examiner’s Office.
