A Kentucky woman was killed over the weekend on Lake Powell in Page when she and her family encountered flash flooding in Labyrinth Canyon. Coconino County Sheriff’s officials say 43-year-old Heather Rutledge from Louisville, was hiking with her husband and three sons at around 2 p.m. Saturday when they were caught in a flash flood, that ultimately caused Rutledge to drown. Her family found Heather but CPR attempts were unsuccessful. The husband and kids went back to their rental boat to get help, only to find it damaged from the flood and was undrivable. A boater in the area was able to pull the boat out of the mouth of the canyon and contact the National Park Service. Due to weather and lake conditions at the time, they recovered the body the next morning. Rescuers swam through flood debris and located her body Monday. She was taken to the Coconino County Medical Examiner’s Office in Flagstaff. No additional information is available.
