Even with no ride, Gaston County bikers come through at Christmas
COVID-19 may have stalled the motorcycle ride, but even a global pandemic couldn t stop the giving of Gaston County motorcyclists who participate in the original Toys for Tots Motorcycle Ride each year. The main objective is to get the toys for the children who need them, said Gerald Tate, who helped start the annual procession of bikers out of his Gaston County living room in 1985. The ride is just icing on the cake.
Bikers of Gaston County and surrounding areas collected 250 toys for the Salvation Army to distribute to needy families this year, despite not having the advantage of holding a motorcycle run that can draw hundreds to the area.

It s housed in a 36,000-square-foot space that was once a garage for the Coca-Cola Bottling Plant, built in 1931. The sprawling space is now home to 14 locally-owned and operated restaurants and shops, with more to follow.
