The Cochrane Lions Club has helped community members for a number of years in a number of ways, last week they took it a little further.
On Friday, they decided to surprise patrons of Tim Hortons with a “Pay it Forward” campaign.

Spokesman for the club, Gerry Robichaud said “ From 6am-1pm we paid for the coffee. We gave them $900. The Lions also have plans for an additional $100 to thank others as we go forward. With each coffee the staff handed out a card.”

Even before became involved in pageants, Sammy Barrette was looking for ways to give back.
Another project she worked on this year was collecting used eye glasses for Canadian Lions Eyeglass Recycling Centre. The program provides glasses to developing countries to help offset the costs.

Through Barrette’s efforts 191 pairs of glasses will be donated to the cause.
While her project is over, the Cochrane Lions Club also accepts glasses for their program. They have a collection box in the foyer of the Cochrane Public Library.
