Matene Hapeta’s pitbull cross, Biggy, will not be put down because Judge David Saunders said it had attacked during “exceptional circumstances”. Hapeta, 34, was convicted in the Greymouth District Court in December of owning a dog that caused serious injury to his former co-worker, Kodi Purcell.
