Japanese Charts: Huge Debut For Monster Hunter Rise Sends Switch Sales Through The Roof

Famitsu s Japanese chart figures are now in for the week ending 28th March, revealing that Monster Hunter Rise has had a – ahem –
monstrous launch in Nintendo s home region.
The game sold a whopping 1,302,132 physical copies in its opening weekend, dominating the charts and leading the pack by a ridiculous margin. Second place went to Super Mario 3D World + Bowser s Fury, which sold another 37,166 physical copies to put its current lifetime total up to 592,683.

The weekly hardware and software sales from Japan are in, courtesy of Famitsu, and Capcom has cause for celebration!
Monster Hunter Rise debuted at number one, selling over 1.3 million units at launch. This series is an absolute juggernaut in Japan, and it looks like that’s not changing anytime soon. No other game managed to sell more than 40,000 units this week.
Aside from Capcom, Nintendo is also reaping the benefits.
Monster Hunter Rise is a Nintendo Switch (timed, console) exclusive, so its strong start was a boon for Nintendo hardware. The title is priced at 7,800 yen at retail and 7,000 yen via download, and there will also be a 10,800 yen limited edition including a five-disc drama CD will also be available.
