All-Women Games Done Quick Event Flame Fatales Returns This August The event runs for a week and follows up on last fall s Flame Fatales, which raised more than $80,000. May 1, 2021 at 7:16AM PDT Games Done Quick will see the return of its all-women speedrunning event Flame Fatales this August, and players interested in participating will be able to send their game submissions in just a few weeks. Running for a week, the event will be held completely online and, as with all GDQ events, will help raise money for charity via viewers donations. Flame Fatales begins on August 15 and runs through August 21, with game submissions opening up on May 18. If you aren t sure whether you want to volunteer you ll have a little longer to decide, as those submissions won t go live until July 15, which is the same day the schedule releases.

Games Done Quick s Flame Fatales set to run in August

Games Done Quick is not letting the continuing COVID-19 pandemic get its annual plans down. Not only is the team moving forward with its twice-yearly core events, but its side projects are continuing to run without any major issues. On Friday, GDQ announced that its all-women speedrunning event would be ready to roll out with the all-online Flame Fatales running from August 16-23. Flame Fatales, organized by GDQ s Frame Fatales community, sees the top women in speedrunning come together during the late summer/early fall period. Last year s Fleet Fatales event ran in late November and raised more than $80,000 for Malala Fund, the charity founded by Malala and Ziauddin Yousafzai that raises money to fund girls education throughout the world. There is no word just yet on who Flame Fatales will be raising money for, but expect those details in the weeks ahead. Summer Games Done Quick 2021 Announces Dates for Online Event ✖ Games Done Quick has announced that the charity speedrunning event Summer Games Done Quick (SGDQ) 2021 will once again be hosted this year, but given the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, it will be an online event. SGDQ 2021 will specifically be held from July 4th through July 11th. The last several Games Done Quick events have all been held online and been relatively successful despite it all with Awesome Games Done Quick 2021, which was also an online event, raising over $2.75 million back in January. In order to ensure the continued safety of our attendees, runners, volunteers, and staff, this year s SGDQ marathon will once again be heading online, the official announcement reads in part. Game Submissions are now open through April 11th! Submissions for host judge volunteers open now as well, through April 5th. General volunteer submissions will be opening April 9th!
