The city's neighborhood map calls the area from Welton west to the South Platte River Five Points, but it's been changing drastically in the last two decades, and the RiNo nickname has taken over some parts.
FORT COLLINS Going organic became the thing to do a generation ago, and many budding entrepreneurs tried to capitalize on the trend, especially with health-related product lines. Larger corporations moved in to absorb the market, however, either squeezing out or buying up smaller competitors.
That’s why the journey of one small Larimer County business is all the more remarkable. An idea that started in Kathryn Higgins’ kitchen crockpot now boasts about 30 products, sales in the millions and global reach.
All it took was a little love. Motherlove, that is.
The Fort Collins-based company manufactures natural and organic personal-care products, especially for pregnant and breastfeeding mothers. Its little blue glass bottles are common sights on the shelves of retailers such as Whole Foods, Sprouts and Target.

The Fort Collins-based donut shop is getting ready to open its fourth location in June in Central Park, the Denver neighborhood formerly known as Stapleton. And owners Marquez and Ondrea Fernandez want to add two more before the end of the year.
“Our goal is to have a store north, south, east and west of our RiNo shop, so we can hit the whole Denver metro area,” Marquez Fernandez said.
The Doughnut Club is the retail arm of the Fernandezes’ online business, The Dough Bar. The Dough Bar which they pitched on ABC’s “Shark Tank” in 2018, landing a deal with Barbara Corcoran sells protein-packed baked donuts through its website.

Odell Brewing has changed the name of its brewery and taproom at 2945 Larimer Street from RiNo Brewhouse to Five Points Brewhouse, a subtle but noteworthy nod to the somewhat recent realization by many businesses that the RiNo moniker which refers to the River North Art District has usurped the historic neighborhood name that the district overlaps. We have absolutely loved being a part of this community and getting to know our neighbors. In conversations we’ve had with these neighbors, we realized that by not using the Five Points name, we were participating in the diminishment of the Five Points neighborhood, the Fort Collins-based brewery wrote in a Facebook post last week. We are proud to have our first Denver Brewhouse located in one of its oldest neighborhoods. We will continue to engage the Five Points community, create an inclusive space, and offer a guest experience that reflects the quality and intention we put into everything we do here at Odell Brewing.
