After going virtual in 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Dollar Bank Three Rivers Arts Festival is back with an in-person, although still socially-distanced, event.
With more than 150 artists participating for 2021, the free event is open from 12 to 8 p.m. every day through June 13.
This year’s festival looks a little different from years past, with vendors and tents spread across Downtown as a way to keep the event from getting overcrowded. The artist booths will be in four different locations: Point State Park, the corner of Penn Avenue and 7th Street, Fort Duquesne Boulevard and on 7th and 8th streets.
Artist Janel Young works on her street mural in Downtown Pittsburgh. Welcome to Pittsburgh! You’ve come to the city at a really beautiful time. Pittsburgh is literally becoming more colorful as we put this Newcomers Guide together for you. Janel Young, the artist pictured above and on this year s cover, is currently painting a street mural on two blocks of Fort Duquesne Boulevard in Downtown Pittsburgh for a pop-up park that will be closed to traffic this summer for outdoor concerts and festivals, and located across the river from the home of the
Pittsburgh Pirates. Young, who was commissioned this year for Yahoo’s Black History Month logo, along with multiple other arts projects around town, is one of the many talented Pittsburgh artists putting the city on the map.

There’s a chance of an early morning shower on Friday in Pittsburgh, but the rest of the day should be partly sunny with a high around 80.
It’s a good portent for the return of in-person events at the Dollar Bank Three Rivers Arts Festival, which went all-virtual in 2020 due to the pandemic. In addition to live programming in the Cultural District, the 10-day festival will retain some virtual elements.
Festival hours will be noon-8 p.m. daily through June 13.
