The Grande Prairie Storm finished off their shortened season this weekend on a high note, with a 5-1 win over the Sherwood Park Crusaders.
Ty Toews and Dan McIntyre each scored a goal early into the second period for a 2-1 lead. The final three goals came in the third period, scored by Ethan Strang, Paycen Bjorklund and Brett Meerman.
The Storm finished third in the Viterra Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) North Division with nine wins, eight losses, one overtime loss and a 0.528 winning percentage. They were sixth overall.

The Fort McMurray Oil Barons are canceling their season early due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The region is currently being hit hard by the virus, sitting at the top of the list for spread of the virus in Alberta.
David Fitzgerald, President of the Fort McMurray Oil Barons, says the state of local emergency was the last straw.
“This was a difficult choice, but one we felt was necessary to maintain the health and safety of our organization and community.”

The majority of Whitecourt Wolverines came out of isolation last Wednesday and went on to play two home games against the Bonnyville Pontiacs Saturday and Sunday.
The Wolverines lost the Saturday game 6-2 and the Sunday game 4-0.

âI think the players and everyoneâs excited to get back on the ice and get back rolling,â said Shawn Martin, Wolverines head coach.
Due to a positive test result in the Drayton Valley Thunder cohort, activity was paused for the Wolverines, Thunder and Grande Prairie Storm two weeks ago.

The Fort McMurray Oil Barons are facing the Grande Prairie Storm in the next round of the AJHL regular season.
The Oil Barons lead the Viterra AJHL North division with 22 points, while the Storm sit fifth in the division with nine points.

The teams will play four games during a two-week span starting at Centerfire Place on April 16.
Oil Barons coach Gord Thibodeau said travel will be more than the team is used to from previous rounds, but the athletes are excited to be playing.
