Public School Division, Catholic School District Wanting COVID-19 Vaccine Made Available For Teachers & Staff

The province has been focusing eligibility on people’s age and health, while also giving priority to health care workers on the front lines. Jennifer Turner, Superintendent of the FMPSD, tells Mix News they haven’t be given any timeline on when teachers and school staff can get their first shot. She says she believes teachers are essential workers and should be able to get the vaccine now.

Northland School Division will not pilot proposed K-6 draft curriculum

Article content The Northland School Division (NSD), which includes schools serving Wood Buffalo’s rural and Indigenous communities, is not piloting the draft kindergarten to Grade 6 curriculum this upcoming fall. NSD spokesperson Curtis Walty said in a Tuesday email the school division’s leadership felt “the Indigenous perspectives and experiences that were included in the previous curriculum seem to be omitted” in the proposed curriculum. Westwood & Ecole McTavish Moving Grades 10 to 12 To Virtual Learning For Rest Of Week

Photo by: Brandon Piper Two more schools in the Fort McMurray Public School Division are moving multiple grades back to virtual learning. Grade 10 to 12 students at Westwood and École McTavish will continue their education at home for the rest of the week. Those in grades 7 to 9 will remain attending classes in-person. Both are dealing with a rise in COVID-19 cases linked to individuals with ties to the schools which has forced a high number of staff and students to self-isolate. At École McTavish, nearly 60 per cent of students and half of the staff who oversee the senior grades are currently in quarantine.
