Fort Madison, Ia- On Wednesday, February 10th, the Fort Madison Fire Department was dispatched to the 1900 block of 48th street for reports of a vehicle that had possibly broken through the ice.
Fort Madison Police and Lee County Sheriff’s and County EMS were first on the scene. Once firefighters arrived on the scene, they observed a pickup truck halfway submerged in water with at least one occupant.
Rescue operations were set up off a railroad service road just off 33rd street and made calls to request railroad traffic in the area be stopped.
