UP: Allahabad HC stays arrest of Mirzapur makers Farhan Akhtar, Ritesh Sidhwani
The Complainant had alleged in the FIR that the web series impacted the society to such an extent that people known to him have started calling him âKaleem Bhaiyyaâ.
Lucknow: In a big relief to the makers of the web series âMirzapurâ Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani, the Allahabad High Court stayed their arrest over an FIR filed against them for hurting religious sentiments and indecent portrayal of district Mirzapur in Eastern Uttar Pradesh.
A division bench of the Allahabad High Court comprising Justice Manoj Kumar Gupta and Justice Subhash Chand granted the stay on an application moved by Akhtar and Sidhwani to stay their arrest. The court, however, asked them not to leave the country till the pendency of the case and cooperate in the investigation.

Producers of the hit Amazon Prime web series Mirzapur, Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani, were granted some relief by the Allahabad High Court in the matter of an F.I.R filed against the makers with regards to the content of the show.
On Friday the court stayed the arrest of Farhan and Ritesh after an F.I.R was filed against the show for hurting religious sentiments and showing the district of Mirzapur in a negative light. The F.I.R was filed in Kotwali Dehat in Mirzapur by a city-based journalist on 17 January.

There were several reports since Thursday evening of a tussle between UP Police and Mumbai Police over the Mirzapur controversy. A team of UP Police had reportedly claimed that they were denied necessary permission by the Mumbai Police to proceed with their investigation.

Makers of the hit Amazon Prime Video crime drama Mirzapur seem to have irked the folks of the real district of Mirzapur in Uttar Pradesh with the content of their show. An F.I.R has been registered against the show for allegedly promoting social enmity and hurting religious sentiments a few months after the second season of the show hit the web.
Arvind Chaturvedi registered a complaint against the show at Kotwali Dehat police station of Mirzapur citing problems against the abusive content, illicit relationships shown on screen and presenting the district in a negative light.
