The People s Slate is a four-person coalition seeking to fill City Council at-large seats. The Slate is made up on of Brittan Hardgers (left), Stanley Martin, Kim Smith, and Kevin Stewart. Last year, they marched on City Hall. Now, a handful of organizers of the 2020 protests are hoping to march into City Hall as members of City Council. The foursome of Democrats, who dub themselves “The People’s Slate,” is comprised of Free the People organizer Stanley Martin; VOCAL-NY organizer Kim Smith; Brittan Hardgers, a barber and staple of local Black Lives Matter protests, and Kevin Stewart, a quiet fixture at the protests who did much of his organizing behind the scenes.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) The Rochester Police Department is reviewing body camera footage and conducting an internal review after a family trouble call on Friday afternoon.
Rochester Police responded around 3:30 p.m. to a home on Avenue B for a family trouble call involving a possible stolen vehicle.
While investigating, officers say they were approached by a custodial parent of a minor to inform the officer that her child was going to cause self-harm to herself and others, before she ran away from the location. The police were able to apprehend the minor without incident, but the minor became agitated when she saw her parent.
Police converge on City Hall on Sept. 16, 2020, in response to demonstrators occupying the exterior of the building. The Rochester Police Accountability Board announced Tuesday that it is launching its first formal investigation, targeting the Rochester Police Department’s response to the Black Lives Matter protests of last year.
The board is looking to evaluate RPD’s current policy on crowd control and how force was utilized in the protests, as well as past crowd control efforts at events like the Puerto Rican Festival.
Board members anticipated conducting interviews and reviewing written testimony from RPD and community members through at least March. The board expects to eventually recommend potential policy changes to the department.
