Pile-driving specialist MENCK has won a contract to support Boskalis with the foundation piling activities on the Changfang and Xidao offshore wind farm in Taiwan.
This involves the piling of 186 pin piles for the 62 three-legged jacket foundations being installed over two campaigns in 2021 and 2022 in water depths of up to 40 metres, Acteon, MENCK’s parent company, said.
MENCK will be providing a piling hammer spread including two 1200 KJ hammers with associated powerpacks and winches for the project.
”Providing services on this project is a significant achievement within the Taiwanese region where we are continuously increasing our presence through equipment development, strategic partnerships and deployment of localised personnel,”
Vineyard Wind Resubmits Plan for Energy Farm Off Mass. Coast
Vineyard Wind has told the Biden administration it will resubmit its plans for an 800-megawatt wind farm 15 miles south of Martha s Vineyard.
In the waning weeks of the Trump administration, the offshore wind company suddenly pulled its construction and operations plan, or COP, off the table, fueling speculation in some corners that the project was in trouble. At the time, they said they yanked the plan because they had changed their mind about the size and power of turbines they wanted to use.
But today, only days after President Joe Biden was sworn in, Vineyard Wind said no changes are needed in its COP, and that it believes the federal permitting process should be able to move forward before the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, or BOEM.

GREAT YARMOUTH, ENGLAND - JULY 19: The sun starts to rise behind Britain s largest offshore wind farm off the Great Yarmouth coastline on July 19, 2006 in Norfolk, England. The 30 turbines cost GBP75million and can generate enough power for 41,000 homes are seen by supporters as a clean and green way to generate electricity and a way of cutting down on harmful green house gas emmissions.
