AAA The long wait for Kavundampalayam, Vadavalli and Veerakeralam residents for water on a par with old city residents is over.
Each of the residents in the 26,659 houses in these three areas will get 135 litres of water a day as Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami commissioned the scheme, which the Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board had started in September 2016.
After the Chief Minister commissioned the scheme from Chennai, Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner P. Kumaravel Pandian, City Engineer A. Lakshmanan, TWAD Board Consultant S. Sampathkumar, Chief Engineer Raveendran, Superintending Engineer Raghupathi and others inspected the functioning of the scheme at the pumping station in Kavundampalayam, the release added.

The pulse polio immunisation drive held on Sunday achieved 99% coverage in Coimbatore district with 3,36,798 children in the 0-5 years age group administered the oral polio drops. Health workers maintained precautions against COVID-19 during the drive.

AAA Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner P. Kumaravel Pandian on Wednesday reviewed the progress made in various projects taken up under the Smart Cities Mission and the 24x7 drinking water supply scheme.
A release from the Corporation said he took stock of the progress made in the lake development project, model road work in R.S. Puram and Race Course, the construction of micro compost centres and the 24x7 drinking water supply project.
He also sought details from engineers supervising the construction of multi-level car parking lot on D.B. Road.
Thereafter, he reviewed water distribution, ward-wise and asked them to ensure no disruption in water supply.
‘Ensure there is no leak in pipelines before restoring road’

AAA Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner P. Kumaravel Pandian, who inspected the 24x7 drinking water supply project that is in progress in R.S. Puram, told the contractor that it should ensure that there is no leak in the new pipelines laid before restoring the dug roads.
A release from the civic body said the Commissioner after visiting the works in T.V. Samy Road, Sir C.V. Raman Road, West Sambandam Road, Guru Gobind Singh Road and a few other areas, also told the contractor that it should immediately restore road after completion of work so as to cause minimum inconvenience to the public.
