Coimbatore: As of Friday, the list of people waiting for an artificial limb in the district’s differently-abled welfare department was nil, thanks to the newly set up artificial limb centre at the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital. Set up less than a year ago (August 14), the centre has fitted artificial limbs for 40 people so far, 10 of them from the differently-abled department’s waiting list. District collector G S Sameeran had recently tweeted his praise and gratitude to the centre for fitting artificial limb to 40 people from poor backgrounds, who lost either one or both their limbs either due to amputation, without delay.
