Curative, which has partnered with Bell County to give COVID-19 vaccinations, is opening a clinic in Temple starting Tuesday.
The new clinic is set to be located in Temple at Vista Community Church, 7051 Stonehollow Drive, and will be open from Tuesday through Thursday. Similar to the Curative clinic in Killeen opened last week, at Leo Buckley Stadium 500 N. 38th St., the Temple location will offer 1,500 vaccination appointments each week.
The clinicâs operating hours are from 8 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, with Wednesday appointments ranging from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
County Judge David Blackburn said the county is currently seeing many appointments open up and the county and Curative are working together to make sure whoever wants the vaccine can get it.
Texas reopened its economy in March, and people packed restaurants and stores. A month later, however, many businesses are struggling to operate at full capacity because they canât find needed employees.
âAll businesses are struggling right now to find workers, but the hardest hit is the small business community,â said Ursula McNab, a business services specialist with Workforce Solutions of Central Texas.
âItâs hard for small businesses to be competitive with increased unemployment benefits people are receiving because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic,â she said. âIf you do the math, people on unemployment are making about $9.25 an hour or more. Itâs hard for small businesses â especially the food industry â to compete.â
Starting next week, Curative will host the countyâs first walk-in clinic for COVID-19 vaccinations.
Bell County officials announced Thursday that Curative, a county partner for the vaccines, will offer walk-in appointments in Killeen at Leo Buckley Stadium, 500 N. 38th St. In addition to the new walk-in clinic, Curative is set to open a second vaccination location in Temple offering 1,500 appointments a week.
The second Curative site will take place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays and on 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesdays at Vista Community Church in Temple, 7051 Stonehollow Drive.
While Curative opens a new site, Seton Medical Center in Harker Heights announced that it will not make any additional appointments after April 30.
Nearly 30 years after the Temple Independent School District implemented the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme at Temple High in 1992, Lisa Adams â the districtâs assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction â said student engagement is still going strong.
âAs the only district in Central Texas to offer a K-12 IB experience, we have seen firsthand how this investment makes a difference in the lives of our students,â Adams said during an April board meeting. âWe are immensely proud of the staff members at our IB campuses who go above and beyond to foster curiosity, diversity and a love for learning for our students.â
