On December 22, CMS announced the 16 hospitals awarded Medicare-funded DGME and IME positions through Round 16 of the Affordable Care Act’s Section 5506 slot redistribution program. Round 16 redistributed 574.82 DGME and 556.81 IME FTE cap slots from Hahnemann University Hospital, which closed during the summer of 2019.
Section 5506 of the ACA requires CMS to implement the closed hospital residency slot redistribution program. Under the program, CMS is required to take all of the DGME and IME residency slots from hospitals that closed on or after March 23, 2008, and to permanently redistribute them according to certain criteria.

CLAIM
A news bulletin graphic carrying the logo of US-based media company CNN is being circulated on social media to claim that coronavirus patients are eating each other after being administered Covid-19 vaccine.
The bulletin image carries a Breaking News ticker that reads ‘Hospitals on lockdown as first covid vaccine patients start eating other patients (sic)’. This ticker is accompanied by visuals of a hospital ward in complete disarray with blood scattered everywhere on the floor. The bulletin specifies the location of the hospital as Los Angeles.

Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner is asking police to hold off on releasing body camera footage or other images in the case of a man shot and killed by two officers after police said he fired into a crowd early on Christmas Day, killing his son and wounding another teen.
DA Krasner said images should be withheld until there is input from the families.
Police said 43-year-old Jesus Perez shot his son, 15-year-old Jeremy Perez and struck a 17-year-old boy. Jesus Perez was then shot by the responding officers.
