CLEARWATER — Two drivers were caught street racing, police say, as part of a traffic operation that resulted in a total of six arrests and 33 speeding citations. The operation was aimed at cracking down on dangerous driving across the city, according to Clearwater police, and focused on these busy corridors: the Courtney Campbell Causeway, McMullen Booth Road, Gulf-to-Bay Boulevard and Drew .

Between late 2019 and early 2020, Tampa Bay saw an estimated decline of 5,411 acres of seagrass, according to the Southwest Florida Water Management District.
Scientists say pollution from runoff and wastewater leaks adds nutrients to the bay, fueling algae growth that hurts seagrass beds.
Seagrasses provide shelter and food to a diverse community of animals, from small invertebrates to large fish, crabs, turtles, marine mammals and birds.
Provisional results released earlier this month by the Southwest Florida Water Management District (SWFWMD) show that Tampa Bay now harbors 35,240 acres of seagrass. That s a vast improvement from the 1990 s when a plan was established to boost recovery of this vital part of the ecosystem.

TAMPA, Fla. - A crash involving a motorcycle closed one direction of the Courtney Campbell Causeway in Tampa Wednesday.
Tampa police said the accident happened on the causeway, just west of Rocky Point, on Wednesday afternoon. The view from SkyFOX showed crews focusing on the scene next to the driveway to Whisky Joe s bar.
Westbound lanes were closed for several hours due to the crash investigation, but had reopened by 5 p.m.
At least one person was killed in the crash but details were not immediately available.
