Firefighters attend second chimney fire near Grantham

Firefighters have been called to a second chimney fire this weekend caused by a build-up of soot.
At 1.40pm today (Sunday), the crew from Corby Glen was called to High Street, Swayfield.
On Friday, crews were called to a similar incident at Billingborough.

The fire in Swayfield was extinguished using chimney rods and a stirrup pump and was caused by a build up of soot.
The National Association of Chimney Sweeps says regular sweeping removes creosote to prevent dangerous chimney fires while also increasing the efficiency of some appliances.
Dance starlets from academy near Grantham selected to represent England at the Dance World Cup
Two dance starlets have been selected to represent England this summer.
A pair of students from the Dance Academy, in Corby Glen, successfully auditioned for a place at the Dance World Cup which will be held in Spain this July.
Layla Rosa Harker and Isabelle Wade, both aged nine, will be competing in the âmini acro duetâ category at the competition, which is set to be held in Burgos in northern Spain.

Having students selected for international competition is a first for Jane Brown, who has run the Dance Academy since 2007.
A number of Grantham area schools close following heavy snowfall

With heavy snowfall throughout much of yesterday, schools have closed their doors.
So far, five schools in the area have announced that they will be closed today (Tuesday), with more snow expected later on.
The Charles Read Academy in Corby Glen is closed for all students, with online lessons set to continue via Microsoft Teams.

Similarly, Corby Glen Community Primary School has closed due to heavy snow forecast throughout the day. All learning will be done remotely on Teams, Seesaw and Tapestry.
Grantham schools closed following heavy snow over the weekend

A number of schools have decided to close today because of the snow and treacherous conditions.
At least 10 schools in the Grantham area have closed their doors today to staff and children of key workers who would still be attending.
Schools in the Grantham area which are closed include St Anne s Primary School, Ambergate Sports College, Barrowby Primary School, Charles Read Academy, Corby Glen, Gonerby Hill Foot Primary School, Great Ponton Primary School, Ingoldsy Academy, Ropsley Primary School, and the Bythams Primary School.
St Anne s Primary School is among a number of schools in the Grantham area closed today following heavy snowfall at the weekend. (44087173)
