Oakville to Build Electric Lincoln Corsair By 2026: Report

The recently inked CA$1.95 billion deal between Ford Motor Company of Canada and Unifor ensures that Oakville Assembly will be the automaker’s Canadian hub for future electric vehicle production. According to auto industry forecasting firm AutoForecast Solutions LLC, this includes an electric version of the Lincoln Corsair, which is slated to go into production by 2026.
AutoForecast Solutions Vice President Sam Fiorani told
Because the electric Corsair would have its own unique platform, Lincoln could very well pull the plug on the combustion engine-powered Corsair and the Corsair Grand Touring plug-in hybrid. Lincoln builds the Lincoln Corsair and Corsair Grand Touring at Louisville Assembly in Kentucky. The crossover will undergo a complete redesign in 2024.

The compact crossover with standard front- and available all-wheel drive comes courtesy of the Louisville Assembly Plant, one of the oldest manufacturing facilities owned by the Blue Oval. Opened in 1955, the Kentucky-based facility is also where the Lincoln Corsair is produced because the two SUVs share the highly modular Ford C2 vehicle platform.
According to our friends at Ford Authority, the Escape PHEV and Corsair Grand Touring have been delayed to April 5th even though they were revealed in 2019. The biggest reason for pushing back the production date is a stop-sale order and a recall of the Kuga PHEV for the Old Continent.

A decade ago, Lincoln had a diverse array of cars to go along with the full-size Navigator. Today it has four SUVs and crossovers, ranging in size from compact to overblown. As with its parent company Ford, it’s switching from cars to crossovers.
The lone car in the stable is the aging MKZ, which was introduced in 2013.
All Lincolns arrive with the company’s Co-Pilot360 suite of safety aids. The list includes blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alert, pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, rearview camera, and auto high-beams. All also work with Sync3, which supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, but with an anomaly the native navigation system does
