According to a statement issued by the Goa government, Rane attended the Abhikhya programme organized by GMC and distributed prizes for the batch of 2020-21 along with felicitating the HoDs as COVID warriors for their commendable service during the pandemic.
Rane applauded the dedicated work done by the health workers during the pandemic period and complimented team Goa Medical College and Directorate of Health Services for their continuous efforts as regards to medication. With a positive approach, the health sector is moving forward in the right direction and Goa is known for the best health care facilities at the national level, the Health Minister said.

Predicting a spike in COVID-19 cases in January, state Health Minister Vishwajit Rane today appealed to tourists to take precautions, as Goa is not a banana republic .
Addressing the media after chairing a high-level meeting, the minister said despite repeated appeals to wear masks and practise social distancing, people have not been taking precautions.
Mr Rane predicted a spike in infections in January due to the recently held New Year celebrations and influx of tourists in the coastal state. Tourists should realise that although they are here to enjoy, they must follow safety measures. I saw that 60 per cent of the people at the airport were not wearing masks, the minister said.
Health Minister Says Night Curfew Likely in Goa, CM Sawant Says No Decision So Far

Goa Health Minister Vishwajit Rane on Thursday said that a night curfew is likely to be imposed in the state, even as Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that no decision to that effect has been taken so far. In a statement issued on Thursday morning, Rane said he has discussed with the chief minister the issue of imposing a night curfew in the state. I have spoken to the chief minister on imposing night curfew in Goa on the lines of Delhi and Karnataka. The file is already in the process, he said in the statement.
