Denial: The defedant continues to claim that he was not a paedophile but was in fact trying to trap one A young Workington man who devised a plan to meet a stranger in a hotel so that they could sexually abuse a four-year-old child has been jailed. Connor Askew, 25, denied having any sexual interest in children, claiming that his hotel plan was actually part of an attempt to trap a paedophile. But the jury who considered his case rejected that claim, convicting him of attempting to facilitate a child sex offence and illegally distributing a child abuse image to another person. He was convicted after a trial at Carlisle Crown Court.

SENTENCED: Bolton Crown Court A MAN who sent a disgusting video of a young child being sexually abused to two people told police officers his barber must have done it on his phone while he was having his hair cut. Kelly Mpinga, 40, of Second Avenue, Little Lever, also told officers that he got no sexual gratification from the image and was sharing it with others as a warning. At Bolton Crown Court, Kate Hammond, prosecuting, said that officers were contacted by a woman in London in 2018 who said she had received an indecent image on her phone. An examination of the phone revealed Mpinga to be the sender and officers raided his home and seized a number of items.
