Nine new deaths, 64 cases reported in Crawford County -- coronavirus update, Dec 23

Crawford County had 64 new coronavirus cases and nine new COVID-related deaths reported Wednesday. The Crawford County Coroner’s Office reported nine new COVID-related deaths to the Tribune, bringing the county s total to 101 since the pandemic began. Five of the nine were women and the ages for all nine ranged from 78 to 100. Three deaths took place at Meadville Medical Center, two at Embassy of Park Avenue, two at Wesbury United Methodist Community and two at the Crawford County Care Center.  The Department of Health s latest data release raised the county s total number of coronavirus cases to 4,479 since March. Of the 64 new cases reported Wednesday, Meadville had an increase of 18 cases (confirmed and probable), as did Conneautville.

National Guard temporarily helping staff Crawford County Care Center

SHANNON ROAE/Meadville Tribune SAEGERTOWN — The Pennsylvania Army National Guard temporarily is helping staff the Crawford County Care Center in Saegertown because of positive COVID-19 among staff. The National Guard is providing one nurse, five medics serving as certified nursing assistants and six others to work with dietary and housekeeping services at the county-owned nursing home, Eric Henry, chairman of Crawford County Board of Commissioners, said Thursday. The National Guard arrived Wednesday at the Care Center and will work at the home at least through Monday, Henry said.
