Due to COVID-19 concerns, this year’s annual soup supper to benefit the Crawfordsville Fire Department will be a drive-through event.
Fire Chief Roy Felts says people can drive up to the fire station between 4:00 and 7:00 p.m. this Saturday to enjoy their choice of chili, cheesy potato, and beef enchilada soup. Felts says since they had to cancel their pancake breakfast last spring due to the pandemic, costing them about $2,500, this weekend’s fundraiser is vital to their operations, “Our budget is very limited by the time we pay for utilities and our insurance and everything like that, so our fundraising is a major purchasing agent to buy updated tools, new gear and stuff like that. It’s typically purchased by fundraising so without the chance to do any fundraisers last year, we haven’t been able to purchase any new equipment.”
