County enters COVID Red Zone Wednesday, December 23, 2020 4:00 AM Montgomery County is expected to move into the Red Zone Wednesday based on Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb’s color-coded strategy for COVID-19 mitigation measures and restrictions. Red designation is based on a 7-day infection incidence of more than 200 cases per 100,000 individuals and a seven-day average positivity rate greater than 15 percent.
Here in the county, Red Zone restrictions will remain in place during the Christmas and New Year’s holidays. Currently Montgomery County has a seven-day incidence rate of more than 800 cases per 100,000 people. In addition, the seven-day average positivity rate is 18.7 percent. Montgomery County has suffered 16 of 42 total deaths in the last 30 days.
