Greetings from Crookston Public Schools! We are in what I believe is the last stage of this virus’s effect on schools. Maybe I am being overly optimistic, however, my thought process for the next school year is one in which we see a normal school year as a majority of our population becomes vaccinated over the coming months. Here are a couple of things that you should know as we move forward:
Current COVID Situation: In a month’s time, we have only had two instances of an individual with a positive COVID case being present in our schools. This has been one of the best stretches that we have seen in our schools this year. When you consider that we have 1400 people coming to school every day, this is nothing short of remarkable. Thank you for the help that you provide to keep our students safe, we could not manage this without your help and support. We will continue to ask parents to screen their children, to encourage mask

Both comments, in response to news last week that University of Minnesota Crookston Chancellor Mary Holz-Clause had approached Crookston School District Superintendent Jeremy Olson with an offer of a 20-year lease for Pirate football and, yes, even track and field to use Ed Widseth Field on campus, are on the mark. There are many details to hash through, some of which could derail a deal, and fine print is typically tiny for reason.

We are hosting two zoom meetings with parents today. The meeting is focused on us listening to our parents and providing any clarification information needed. I have included the link.
I know this is short notice, however, we really wanted to do this prior to doing major planning with our staff for a return of high school students starting on Feb. 1st. We sent this info to parents last night.
