Three lorries were involved in a collision at 5am today leaving one person dead and two seriously injured. The accident has caused police to close a section of the M5 heading south. The closure has left long queues of traffic on the motorway, which runs from West Bromwich, past Birmingham and through Worcestershire and to the south west.

Police appeal to find wanted man AJ Maher with links to Stroud

POLICE are appealing for the public s help to trace a wanted man with links to Stroud. AJ Maher, aged 18 and previously of Denmark Road in Gloucester is wanted for breach of bail after breaking the conditions of his electronic curfew tag. Officers have completed a number of enquiries to locate Maher such as conducting arrest attempts, house to house enquiries and liaising with partner agencies but have been unable to locate him. He is described as being 5ft 10ins tall, of a medium build, has short dark brown hair and a tattoo of the word “Minnie” on the inside of his lower left arm.

PC Jonathan Eaton, 32, had pleaded not guilty at Newport Crown Court to attempting to record the woman at Gloucestershire Constabulary s HQ. Jurors took five hours and 12 minutes to return a not guilty verdict. PC Eaton told the court his phone was facing the wrong way for him to have filmed the woman and he had been using the cubicle to dampen his hair.
