New Glenbard South principal appointed Jessica Santee
A new principal will lead Glenbard South High School in Glen Ellyn beginning July 1.
South Assistant Principal Jessica Santee will replace Sandra Coughlin, who is retiring at the end of June after eight years at the helm. The Glenbard High School District 87 school board approved Santee s selection Monday night.
I am incredibly honored to step into the role of principal at Glenbard South, Santee said in a statement. I have learned over the past two years that Glenbard South is truly a special place to be, with an innovative and caring staff alongside dedicated students and families.

In my opinion, the answer to that question depends upon the timeframe you choose:
ASAP: We need to get our students back in their classrooms with their teachers.
In the over 10 months since our COVID response began there has only been one case of virus transmission in our classrooms. The science shows kids are safer in our schools than they are out of school.
Short term: Assess the learning deficit of each of our students due to the district s change in instructional methods during the COVID crisis.

Interest is high in the school board elections this spring, as competitive races have emerged across DuPage County.
In several school districts, the list of candidates who filed nominating petitions by last week s deadline amounts to at least twice the number of board seats available.
Indian Prairie Unit District 204 has been leading the pack since early in the weeklong filing period, with 11 hopefuls vying for four open seats. But candidate fields have grown substantially in many other districts, setting the stage for highly contested races in Wheaton Warrenville Unit District 200, Naperville Unit District 203 and more.

The school board election coming in the spring in Indian Prairie Unit District 204 has turned into one of the most competitive races on the ballot in DuPage County.
To date, only two incumbents have formally declared bids to keep their seats, but voters will still have to sort out a slew of challengers.
The election for four open spots on the board is currently an 11-way race just two days into the weeklong filing period for hopefuls to put their names on the April 6 ballot.
