Connecting the generations and Indigenous nations across Turtle Island and beyond, this
Reclaimed session features performances from this year s Indigenous Juno Award nominees and the next wave in Indigenous music. From Nunavut to Wiikwemkoong, Denendeh to Tkaronto, host Jarrett Martineau celebrates the sounds of Indigenous folk, roots, blues, powwow step and moccasin gaze.
Presented in collaboration with Tapestry Opera and Maniac Star, the show is billed as a reimagining of Gould s artistic journey.
Organizers say the performance will feature singers climbing along the interior wall of The Royal Conservatory s atrium, while audiences will watch from the café area.
The opera was composed and conducted by Brian Current with libretto by Liza Balkan.
Philip Akin is set to direct the production, which will feature The Glenn Gould School s New Music Ensemble as part of the orchestra.
Performances have been booked for Jan. 12 to 16.
Other festival highlights include pianist Eve Egoyan performing the world premiere of Seven Studies for Augmented Piano and Canadian violinist Angèle Dubeau in concert with the musical ensemble La Pietà.

The SweetWater Music Festival is launching its 18th season with a virtual concert featuring two artists who first performed together more than 20 years ago.
The spring musical event, Up Close and Personal with Edwin Huizinga and Philip Chiu, is set to premier Friday at 7:30 p.m.

“Philip and I performed together for the first time over 20 years ago. The whole world was ahead of us,” said Huizinga, who is also SweetWater’s artistic director. “We were full of passion and love for chamber music.”
