CLOVIS, N.M. (KFDA) - Achieving the Dream announced the first cohort of colleges in its new Building Resiliency in Rural Communities for the Future of Work initiative.
This aims to increase student success by strengthening rural colleges’ capacity to prepare students for careers in today’s economy.
This is funded by the Cognizant U.S. Foundation, JPMorgan Chase & Co., The Community Focus Fund at the Chicago Community Foundation, Walmart.org, and Ascendium Education Group.

Five public colleges in New Mexico are banding together to implement a shared enterprise technology system that will manage student information, financials, human resources and other campus services and records. The partnership among Clovis Community College, Central New Mexico Community College, Northern New Mexico College, San Juan College and Santa Fe Community College seeks to revamp campus operations and the higher education student experience. LSU at Eunice has been selected to participate in a program that aims to prepare students for careers.
Achieving the Dream, a nationwide network of more than 300 colleges, selected seven schools to start their Building Resiliency in Rural Communities for the Future of Work initiative, and LSU E is one of them.
The aim of the program is to increase equitable student success by strengthening rural collegesâ capacity to prepare students for careers in todayâs economy. The initiative is funded by the Cognizant U.S. Foundation, JPMorgan Chase & Co., The Community Focus Fund at the Chicago Community Foundation, Walmart.org, and Ascendium Education Group.
Weather postponements, cancellations:
Due to inclement weather concerns, various public entities have altered plans for Tuesday;
• Clovis Municipal Schools has closed for today.
• Eastern New Mexico University has closed campus and canceled classes for Tuesday due to power outages.
• Curry County canceled its Tuesday commission meeting due to power outages, and County Manager Lance Pyle told The News county offices would close at noon. All items on the Tuesday agenda will be handled during the Feb. 25 meeting.
• Roosevelt County plans to close its offices at noon Tuesday. The County Clerk’s Office will remain open until 7 p.m. for voting on the local school bond elections.
