Public health says available vaccine appointments to increase

During the HPE Board of Health meeting on Wednesday, May 5 the board reviewed the annual audit for 2020. In 2020 the HPEPH had a total of $16,184,489 in expenditures, which is an increase of expenses of roughly $766,649 from the year before. However, they did end the year with an overall surplus of $678,606. Which makes the health unit’s accumulated surplus a total of $7,171,956. Of that the auditor says that roughly $3 million is in the value of tangible assets, $2.034 million is in reserves and the operation fund is at $1.548 million.

HPEPH reporting eight new COVID-19 cases as a community outbreak is declared in Hastings Highlands

There are now a total of 83 active COVID-19 cases between the two counties. Three of the new cases today are listed as close contacts, one is travel and the remaining four are still pending. Hospital staff are treating 17 people, with seven in ICU and five on a ventilator. The outbreak declared on April 28th at a workplace in Belleville has been declared over. In that situation, three cases of the virus were linked. We now have a total of six active outbreaks: Quinte Health Care – Belleville General Hospital’s Quinte 5 Unit – Declared April 27 – 26 cases linked to date. Quinte Health Care – Belleville General Hospital’s ICU – Declared May 4 – 3 cases linked.

Quinte region has now recorded over 1,000 COVID-19 cases since the start of the pandemic

We’ve hit a grim milestone in the COVID-19 pandemic, as the number of new cases continues to climb locally. Hastings Prince Edward Public Health has recorded now over 1,000 cases of the virus, since the pandemic began in March of 2020. The region has seen a total of 1,004 cases overall, as of today. Health officials are reporting 17 new cases today, and 10 more recoveries. Seven of the new cases reported are listed as variants of concern. There are now a total of 81 active COVID-19 cases between the two counties. Hospital staff are treating 17 local COVID-19 patients, with six in ICU and six on a ventilator.
