China s central SOEs actively contribute to Xiong an New Area construction Xinhua 15 May 2021, 23:44 GMT+10 BEIJING, May 15 (Xinhua) China s centrally-administered state-owned enterprises (SOEs) are actively taking part in the construction of the Xiong an New Area and have set up more than 100 subsidiaries and branches in the region, according to the country s state assets regulator. These subsidiaries and branches have entered sectors including infrastructure construction, frontier information technologies, advanced biological technologies, modern service, energy and new materials, said the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission (SASAC) of the State Council. For the next stage, the central SOEs will make the most of their specialties in areas such as energy, electricity, communications and rail transportation to increase input in the construction of infrastructure and key projects in Xiong an, according to the SASAC.

Later that year, he and his colleagues planted the first batch of trees there.   I can almost name all 200 categories of trees growing here, said Zhao, adding that more birds have been spotted in the area due to the improved environment.

Three tasks that dominated the agenda of North China s Hebei province over the past few years have made remarkable headway, said Wang Dongfeng, secretary of the Hebei Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China.   He was referring to the coordinated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei city cluster, preparations for the 2022 Winter Olympic Games and the construction of the Xiong an New Area.   Progress on the bulk of these tasks is expected to continue over the coming years, he told Xinhua News Agency.   As part of the push to integrate the city cluster, Wang said breakthroughs were made in areas ranging from industrial transference to transportation connectivity during the 13th Five-Year Plan period (2016-20).
