The traditional ruler of Oruku community in Nkanu East Local Government Area of Enugu State, Igwe Emmanuel Chidebere Mba has been shot dead by men who claimed to be police officers from Force Headquarters, Abuja.
The incident has thrown the community into crisis as houses and cars belonging to community members alleged to be behind the shooting of the traditional ruler have been set ablaze.
Eyewitnesses said that ‘policemen’ who were led by one Inspector Danladi, invaded the community in an SUV and a Sienna bus at about 2pm on Saturday and sought to see the traditional ruler who was addressing community members inside the community town hall.

There is palpable fear in Oruku community, Nkanu East Local Government Area of Enugu State, as the traditional ruler of the community, Igwe Emmanuel Mba, was allegedly killed by men suspected to be policemen from Force Headquarters, Abuja.
It was gathered that many houses, cars and other property were also razed in the community in an orgy of violence that started Saturday and continued yesterday.
One of the villagers revealed that the fracas started on Saturday when the now-deceased traditional ruler was presiding over the town meeting and a group of uniformed men believed to be policemen from Abuja stormed the meeting.
The killing of a traditional ruler, Igwe Emmanuel Mba in Enugu state by the newly formed Special Weapons and Tactics Team, SWAT is causing great panic in the state, as youths in the area have now risen in anger.
The monarch is the traditional ruler of Oruku community in the Nkanu East Local Government Area and was killed during a town hall meeting by SWAT operatives, allegedly led by one Inspector Danladi, according to Punch.
Sources in the community, said a combined team of soldiers, policemen, and personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps had been deployed in the community to restore calm, even the rampaging youths had following the event, unleashed mayhem, burning several buildings and houses.

At least seven houses and several vehicles were razed by protesting youths of Oruku community in the Nkanu East Local Government Area of Enugu State on Sunday following the killing of the traditional ruler, Igwe Emmanuel Mba, by suspected operatives of the newly-formed police Special Weapons and Tactics Team.
According to The Punch, a combined team of soldiers, policemen, and personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps had been deployed in the community to restore peace.
According to report, the suspected SWAT operatives, led by one Inspector Danladi, shot the monarch while he was addressing members of his community at the town hall on Saturday and he bled to death before he could get medical attention.
