2021 Praga R1 track-only racer launched with 567bhp/ton

The Praga R1 has already proven success on the circuit, taking the overall victory in 2020’s Britcar Endurance Championship and winning seven out of nine races. But Praga Cars is not resting on its success, so has given its R1 racer a complete overhaul for 2021. While not immediately apparent at first glance Praga Cars has replaced every body panel with new carbonfibre parts that both cut weight and are more easily removable for easy access to its oily bits underneath. The most obvious aesthetic change are the new headlights, fitted for improved low-light visibility. Under the new carbon skin is the same 2-litre turbocharged four-cylinder as before, developed in partnership with Renault-Alpine for an output of 365bhp and 302lb ft of torque. Though this output might not sound especially impressive in by normal road car standards, when considered in context with its 643kg dry weight, actually gives the R1 a power-to-weight on a par with a McLaren 765LT – or 567bhp/ton to be

British Touring Car Championship extends contract with Goodyear through 2026

BTCC) has extended Goodyear s tire supply and sponsorship rights deals through 2026. The five-year extension from TOCA will cover the introduction of hybrid power to the championship starting in the 2022 season, which will put new demands on tires, Goodyear said. The BTCC is considered the premier street-car-based racing series in the United Kingdom, running up to 30 races a year at circuits throughout the British Isles. The series, which started in 1958, features a range of brands, including Audi, BMW, Ford, Honda, Hyundai, Mercedes, Toyota and Volkswagen. Goodyear switched its support of the series to the Goodyear brand at the start of the 2020 season from Dunlop, which had been the BTCC s sponsor and tire supplier since 2003.

The 19-year-old is moving up to the top category of the ELMS to drive of one United s ORECA-Gibson 07s after winning the LMP3 division with United last year at the wheel of a Ligier-Nissan JSP320 shared with Wayne Boyd and Rob Wheldon. Gamble, MABA winner in 2018, joins team stalwart and 2019/20 World Endurance Championship LMP2 title winner Hanson following a successful try-out in an ORECA at the Algarve circuit in Portugal last November.
