What began as a wellness check on a member of a religious group in Colorado turned into a bizarre horror story after the corpse of the group s leader was found wrapped in a sleeping bag, covered in Christmas lights and whose eyeless sockets were decorated with glitter.
The search of the home by Saguache County Sheriff s deputies resulted in seven arrests and charges that included abuse of a corpse and child abuse.
The corpse s discovery is just the latest in the bizarre tale of the religious group Love Has Won, which some former members have described as a “cult.”
The
BBC reported the group shared an update on its now-deleted Facebook page at the weekend confirming its leader had “ascended”. The body was found in what police described as “some kind of shrine”, with glitter makeup around the eyesockets. The eyes were missing and the teeth were showing through the lips, according to one suspected member of the group. The circumstances of the death were still under investigation, but there was no immediate evidence of foul play, the
BBC reported. It’s believed the woman may have died in March and was later driven from California to Colorado. Seven suspected members of the group, aged between 30 and 52, were taken into custody. They face a number of charges including tampering with human remains, abuse of a corpse, child abuse, and false imprisonment.
May is Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month.
The new program stresses the need to wear a helmet and will run on social media and billboards across the state.
Prior to 2020, Colorado had only 103 motorcycle deaths each year for the past three years.
âThe research and data show helmet use as the most important factor in the survivability of a motorcycle crash,â CDOT Executive Director Shoshana Lew said. âHead injuries are common in these crashes. So, whether you are riding around town or cross country, we encourage riders to always wear a helmet.â
The statistics show that 52 percent of riders killed in motorcycle accidents in 2019 were not wearing helmets.
