Illinois on Tuesday temporarily halted shots of Johnson & Johnson s popular one-dose vaccine for COVID-19 on the advice of federal health authorities who plan to meet Wednesday and review six U.S. cases of a rare and severe-type blood clot among the 6.8 million J&J vaccine recipients.
A statement from the Illinois Department of Public Health said the department instructed all providers of COVID-19 vaccines in the state to immediately discontinue use of the J&J vaccine at this time out of an abundance of caution.

Center of Distinction award by Healogics®, the nation’s largest provider of advanced wound care services. The Wound Healing Center has won this award every year since it opened in 2010.
The Center achieved outstanding clinical outcomes for 12 consecutive months, including patient satisfaction rates higher than 92% and a minimum wound healing rate of at least 92% within 28 median days to heal. There were 555 Centers eligible for the Center of Distinction award and 278 achieved the honor. Other Hospital Sisters Health System (HSHS) hospitals receiving this same honor include HSHS St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in O’Fallon and HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital in Highland.

The department said the Moderna and Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines for COVID-19 make up the “vast majority of doses on hand” in Illinois. Those vaccines require two doses given several weeks apart to achieve full effectiveness.
