The recent death of a Sangamon County senior citizen with COVID-19 marked the first such fatality reported since May 4. The July 9 death of a man in his 70s was among three days of statistics reported Monday by the Sangamon County Department of Public Health. The man had tested positive for COVID-19 on April 5, officials said. Fifty-eight new COVID-19 cases among county residents were reported Monday for the three-day period that began Saturday. Also Monday, the Morgan County Health Department said it received confirmation of the deaths of two county residents with COVID-19, both men in their 90s. who were at a hospital, and one man in his 50s who died at a nursing home.
