As India battles the second wave of coronavirus at a time when the vaccination drive against the contagious disease is underway in the country leading to jabs shortage, Association of Healthcare Providers (India) Director General Dr Girdhar Gyani on Sunday said that the vaccine production in the country is being ramped up and by July-August there will be enough vaccines in the country therefore we don t have to worry about its availability.
Speaking in an exclusive conversation with India TV on the ongoing vaccination drive, Dr Girdhar Gyani said we have got a little late in the planning but we have the capacity.
Small hospitals team up to place bulk vaccine orders
Synopsis Girdhar Gyani, director general of AHPI, said the vaccine makers will get back with the details on how much they can supply within this week. “Once they have a guaranteed order from us, things will move fast,” he said.
Several medium and small-sized hospitals have got together under the umbrella of The Association of Healthcare Providers India (AHPI) to procure vaccines on better terms from the manufacturing companies.
“AHPI has engaged with companies to procure vaccines. We are talking to Serum Institute of India (SII), Bharat Biotech (BB) and Dr Reddy’s for Sputnik,” said Girdhar Gyani, director general of the Association of Healthcare Providers India

The Hemant Soren government has asked many private healthcare facilities across Jharkhand to stop their vaccination drive against Covid-19, putting hundreds of beneficiaries awaiting their second jab in a fix.
Owners of private hospitals in the state said on Sunday that the state government also asked them to hand over their vaccine stocks without offering any explanation for doing so.
“We were asked to stop our vaccination drive in the last week of April, and by May 5, the government also asked us to surrender all the doses of vaccine we had in stock,” said Yogesh Gambhir, the owner of Ranchi-based Raj Hospital.
