Harrison fined by ATP after refusing on-court interview over mask wearing Friday, 15 January 2021
American tennis player Christian Harrison has been fined after refusing to take part in an on-court interview in protest over mask rules at the Delray Beach Open.
Harrison claimed it was not healthy to wear a mask for more time than absolutely necessary after a tough match.
The 26-year-old defeated top seed Christian Garin of Chile before declining to be interview on court, resulting in a fine of $3,000 (£2,200/€2,476) from the Association of Tennis Professionals for not fulfilling mandatory duties.
Two days later, Harrison - ranked world number 789 - booked his place in the semi-finals with victory over Italian Gianluca Mager in Delray Beach.

The 2021 edition of the Indian Wells Masters, one of the biggest events in the tennis calendar outside the Grand Slams, has been postponed because of the coronavirus pandemic.
The event, also known as the BNP Paribas Open, is a Masters 1000 event on the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) World Tour and a Women s Tennis Association (WTA) 1000 tournament.
It was due to be held at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden in California in the United States between March 8 and 21 2021 but has now been delayed.
In a statement organisers said: The tournament is proactively working with the ATP and WTA Tours as well as title sponsor BNP Paribas to confirm dates later in the year to hold the event.
Olympic champion Murray given Australian Open wild-card entry
Back-to-back Olympic champion Andy Murray has been awarded a wild-card spot for the 2021 Australian Open.
The three-time Grand Slam champion, who is also a five-time Australian Open runner-up, is set to be part of the main draw entry for the tournament in February.
It comes two years after Murray lost to Spain s Roberto Bautista Agut in the first round in Melbourne in what at the time looked like it could be his last-ever match.
Murray ultimately decided against retirement.
Bugged by a hip problem and other injuries, he remains outside the top 100 in the world rankings, hence needing the wild-card entry.
Świątek and Rublev recognised as WTA and ATP reveal 2020 prize winners Tuesday, 22 December 2020
Poland s history-making French Open champion Iga Świątek and Russia s rising star Andrey Rublev were among the prize winners as the Women s Tennis Association (WTA) and the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) held their annual awards.
The duo were both named as the Most Improved Player of the Year by the respective organisations.
Świątek was recognised after becoming the first Polish player to win a Grand Slam title when she secured the French Open with victory over American Sofia Kenin.
The 19-year-old, who cracked the world s top 50 last year, also finished the season at a career-best number 17.
