KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 22 ― The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) member states have emphasised on the importance of strengthening cybersecurity mechanisms as part of the efforts to advance digital connectivity in the region, said Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah.
Saifuddin, who chaired the inaugural Asean Digital Ministers’ Meeting (ADGMIN1), said this includes the need to strengthen laws and regulations to guarantee safety and security of data connection and to curb the exploitation of children and women in the cyberspace as well as cyberbullying.

PHNOM PENH (Xinhua): Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn said on Thursday (Jan 21) that the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) free trade agreement will be a key driver for regional economic recovery and integration when it enters into force.
He made the remarks during the Asean Foreign Ministers Retreat, which was held via videoconference, the foreign ministry said in a press statement released after the meeting.

Indonesia says Pakistan can become connectivity hub
Envoy stresses CPEC has potential to create diverse investment opportunities
Pakistan is strategically located at the juncture of South Asia, Central Asia and Middle East and has vast potential to emerge as a hub of regional connectivity and economic activity, said Indonesia’s Ambassador to Pakistan Adam M Tugio.
Speaking at a virtual gathering on Monday, he said his country welcomed Pakistan’s efforts to enhance regional connectivity and development through the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
“I am confident that CPEC has immense potential to create diverse investment opportunities and promote industrial, financial and agricultural cooperation,” he said. “Indonesia is considering Pakistan as its diverse investment and joint venture destination for its key exports to the Central Asian and Middle Eastern regions.”
