Bilateral trade grows fast after EVFTA | Business | Vietnam+ (VietnamPlus)

The EVFTA plays a vital role in the future of trade relations between Vietnam and the EU. In the first half of this year, trade between the two parties hit 27 billion USD, up 18 percent compared to the same period in 2020 and a significant highlight amid COVID-19. This figure is expected to rise when the EU-Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA) comes into force after being ratified in member states. The EVFTA is considered one of the most advanced trade deals Vietnam has signed. It will further grow in importance once the COVID-19 vaccination campaign is launched nationwide and the pandemic is brought under control./.

VN verbolgen over verlenging noodtoestand in Myanmar tot augustus 2023

De Verenigde Naties (VN) hebben de verlenging van de noodtoestand in Myanmar bekritiseerd. De maatregel leidt niet in de goede richting , zei een VN-woordvoerder maandag (lokale tijd) tegen journalisten. De militaire machthebber van Myanmar, Min Aung Hlaing, maakte zondag bekend dat de noodtoestand in het land tot augustus 2023 blijft gelden. Het brengt ons verder weg van wat de lidstaten hebben gevraagd: een terugkeer naar de democratie, de vrijlating van alle gevangenen en een einde aan het geweld , aldus de woordvoerder. De junta kondigde in het weekend ook aan dat er in augustus 2023 nieuwe verkiezingen worden gehouden. Eerder zei het leger nog dat die binnen een jaar na de staatsgreep van 1 februari zouden plaatsvinden. De Verenigde Staten zeiden maandag dat het duidelijk is dat de junta probeert tijd te rekken.

2 minutes read Bangkok, Aug 3 (EFE).- Myanmar has surpassed 10,000 Covid-19 deaths, according to latest official figures, and comes amid an uncontrolled wave of the virus adding to the deep political and social crisis as a result of the military coup. Health authorities reported 3,689 new infections and 330 deaths, a new high in the daily death tolls, bringing the total to 306,354 cases, including 10,061 deaths. However, groups of Myanmar doctors warn that official records do not reflect the disastrous reality in the country due to the collapse of the health system and the limited testing capacity. According to the latest official data, almost 30 percent of the 12,394 tests carried out on Monday were positive, which, according to the Myanmar Doctors For Human Rights Network, indicates that the outbreak is widespread.
