COVID-19: Ontario Govt. Announces $695M to Support Municipalities At a news conference at Queen’s Park, Steve Clark, the Ontario minister of municipal affairs and housing, announces that the provincial government will provide an additional $695 million to municipalities during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. He is joined by Adam Vaughan, Liberal MP and parliamentary secretary to the federal minister of families, children and social development; John Tory, the mayor of Toronto; and Graydon Smith, president of the Association of Municipalities of Ontario and the mayor of Bracebridge. From the financial relief being announced, $299 million will be distributed across all 444 municipalities to help them avoid operating deficits in 2021. The government will also allocate an additional $396 million to 48 municipalities that have been the hardest hit by COVID-19. (December 16, 2020) (no interpretation)
