U S Travel to Europe: President to Issue Remarks in a Few Days

U.S. Travel to Europe: President to Issue Remarks in a Few Days 4 hours ago German Chancellor Angela Merkel was the first European leader to visit US President Joe Biden at the White House as topics including U.S. travel to Europe was on the agenda. Topics of the bilateral talk included climate change, COVID-19 vaccines, Russian cyber attacks, Ukraine and shoring up their democracies, as well as travel between the US and Europe. The recent surge in COVID-19 cases due to the Delta variants has put a hold on the US easing travel restrictions just yet. Chancellor Merkel indicated she is confident with America’s COVID team.

US Travel Association disappointed by amendments to FAA Reauthorization Bill

U.S. Travel Association Executive Vice President for Public Affairs Jonathan Grella issued the following statement on H.R. 2997, the 21st Century AIRR Act, as reported: “The House Transportation Committee’s FAA bill markup needs work before it becomes the hoped-for boon to our country’s aviation system. “In particular, we are disappointed by the passage of the ‘Flags of Convenience’ amendment that makes it easier to block pro-growth, pro-traveler disruption from low-cost airlines. Currently, very few of these carriers serve the U.S., and this amendment limits the ability of any new competitors to establish direct international flights here. This amendment directly undermines our country’s Open Skies agreements, and risks millions of American jobs by hampering efforts to make our aviation market more competitive and give flyers more choices.
