Our analysis of NHS England data shows that 3,813 covid cases in hospital in the week to 10 January were likely to have been hospital acquired. Probable hospital-acquired covid cases in the latest week rose by 46 per cent on the week before, when 2,610 cases were detected, and by 52 per cent on the total on 20 December.
