Missed appointments may Brighton and Sussex hospital trust millions

A HOSPITAL trust is estimated to have lost millions of pounds due to thousands of missed appointments through the pandemic, figures show. More than £5 million is calculated to have been wasted due to the missed appointments at Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals Trust. NHS Digital data shows that in the 11 months from April last year, there were 32,295 outpatient appointments which people did not show up for. It means out of 514,955 booked sessions, 6% were unattended. And with the average outpatient appointment costing £160 – as estimated by several NHS trusts – the no-shows may have cost Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust around £5.2 million.

Don t say mother ! Speech code is blow to fight for women s rights – The Militant

By Maggie Trowe April 19, 2021 Liberal social engineers are striking blows to women’s rights as they push laws and regulations that eliminate the word “mother.” This is the latest front in their drive to deny women’s oppression under capitalist rule and to hide the long struggle for women’s equality that has made gains and strengthened the working class. The Democratic majority in the House of Representatives approved a code of conduct Jan. 5 that establishes “gender-inclusive” terms as the recommended official language of the legislative body. Legislators are now instructed to replace “father, mother, son, daughter, brother, sister, husband, wife, father-in-law or mother-in-law” with “parent, child, sibling, spouse or parent-in-law,” and to replace “himself or herself” with “themself.”
