The Senate on Tuesday received President Muhammadu Buhari’s request to confirm former Service Chiefs as non-career ambassador designates to Nigeria foreign missions.
Buhari’s request for a confirmation is contained in a letter addressed to President of Senate Ahmad Lawan and read at plenary.
Buhari in the letter said: ”in accordance to section 171, sub-section 1, 2 C and Section 4 of 1999 Constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended, I have the honour to forward for confirmation by the Senate, the underlisted as non-career ambassador designates. x

PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari has asked the Senate to confirm the appointment of the newly Service Chiefs. The Senate has received a formal request from Mr President for the confirmation of the newly appointed Chief of Defence Staff and Service Chiefs.
President Buhari who wrote to the Senate, is seeking for the screening and subsequent confirmation of the newly appointed Service Chiefs.
Buhari in a letter to the President of the Senate, Senator Ahmad Lawan, dated 27th January 2021, said that the screening was being sought in furtherance of Section 18 (1) of the Armed Forces Act Cap A.20 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria.

The Ekiti state government has filed a lawsuit against the Inspector General of Police, Adamu Mohammed, over the dismissal of a police officer, who got pregnant out of wedlock.
It would be recalled that Omolola Olajide was sacked after she was discovered to be six months pregnant out of wedlock.
The police had announced her dismissal in a wireless message with reference number CJ:4161/EKS/IY/Vol.2/236, DTO:181330/01/2021.
Reacting to the sack, the state government, through the Attorney-General, Olawale Fapohunda, filed a suit with reference number FHC/AD/CS/8/2021 at the Federal High Court, Ado Ekiti Judicial Division, praying the court to nullify Omolola’s dismissal on grounds that it is unconstitutional
