At this point, it’s unmanageable, said Glen Boulanger, a councillor at Berens River First Nation, 275 kilometres north of Winnipeg by road. Everybody’s getting tired here; everybody seems to be getting overwhelmed.
Shamattawa, a fly-in northern reserve 720 kilometres northeast of Winnipeg, hopes the military will finally send soldiers to help, after it submitted a formal request for assistance.
